Prodo Labs announces its ability to begin supplying human islets from Type 2 Diabetes research pancreas donors directly to corporate and academic investigators.
There is a need for supplying human islets processed from Type 2 Diabetes pancreases. These are obtained from organ donors and are used to improve the development of new Type 2 drugs. Prodo Labs will provide human diabetic islets from organ donors with the following diabetes related diagnoses: a) Pre-Diabetes with hyperglycemia levels lower than required for diagnosis of Type 2 diabetes, b) Type 2 Diabetes on oral medications, and c) Type 2 Diabetes on oral medications and insulin. Prodo Labs will not offer diabetic islets from organ donors with a diagnosis of Type 2 Diabetes being treated with insulin, since the quantity and quality of islets from these donors are too poor to process and distribute effectively.
